Scene after I-80 accident near Gibbon, NE
Переглядів 1,5 тис.11 місяців тому
After accident on I-80 near Gibbon, Nebraska (mile marker 288) on 06/18/2023. Eastbound was closed or completely blocked as far back as mm276. It's not fun to be going nowhere, but someone else might have suffered far worse.

Alternator conversion, 1954 Oldsmobile Super 88 two-door hardtop
Переглядів 5252 роки тому
Alternator is running quietly on the 324ci Rocket engine after ditching the original generator. Correct brackets above and below were a challenge, but in the end I got correct pulley alignment without elevating the heater hose but just a bit. Chrome upper arm strikes a bold and stylish contrast with the patina'd engine bay - okay, it's garish, right!? :-) But, oh, she charges like Reese Withers...

nice leg btw...
I was asking myself the same question and researching online came across your comparison. Thank you for adding to the collective knowledge of the internet. Extremely eye opening, seeing the difference.
wish you did this with basalt or granite (hard)
Edit: your video convinced me. I need a rotary drill. Dear god. My concrete wall has a lot of hard pebbles. Should i rent a rotary hammer drill, or buy a cheaper sds plus hammer drill? I don't know if the latter is strong enough to go through. I don't want to waste money on a second drill if it cant get through concrete, but i dislike the idea of renting it since renting costs $40 and buying is only $90 for a Bosch sds plus hammer drill.
This is officially my UA-cam favourite video
Is an SDS the same as what your calling a rotary hammer?
Bosch arguably makes the best hammer drills and masonry hammer drill bits in the market. If your job revolves around constant concrete or masonry demolition or drilling, go with Bosch. A close second is Makita. Still buy the Bosch masonry SDS bits but Makita is comparable.
Great legs man!! And the video was super helpful too!! Thanks!
Get this gun you won't regret it!!!
This video is a masterpiece 👏. Exactly the information that I was looking for. I am mounting a toilet and needed only to drill two holes in concrete. I have a hammer drill, but it will not drill the aggregate . I need the holses in a certain place to line up with holes in the toilet. . I previously rigged it because my hammer drill sucks. My rig lasted twenty years, but it is leaking now. I know I can drill my holes with a rotary hammer drill. Thanks for making this video. No one else has shared this information. Great job 👏
That's it, I'm getting a rotary hammer.
Folks who come up with designs for these tools & engineers who find ways to build them to make our lives so much easier are awesome.
Thunder is Good!
Eleven years later (5.26.2023) and this video is still the most helpful one I have found on the subject!!! Thanks for posting it.
THANK YOU !!!!!! Your video just saved me $200.00, I will rent a REAL Hammer drill for $20.00 .........
you pay for what you get
11 years later and you probably got best straight forward explanation I watched online. Cheers
could have bookmarks and edited but fine
My hammer drill has a a round dial on the trigger. What exactly is that for? Please be specific. Thank you
I just bought a hammer drill, now I can see I really needed a rotary hammer.
rotary hammer takes a lot maintaince tho, you got to keep fresh grease and O rings on its many parts to keep that power in the impact
My DeWalt Drill shorted how can I fixit
I would emphasize how clean the holes are. It makes a big difference in how secure the anchors are. Also SDS drills are available in much longer lengths which can be a big help for your back when drilling the floor.
I desperately was trying to drill a 3" hole in a concrete wall with a Bosch hammer drill until I gave up and went to buy a basic Lidl rotary hammer. Best décision ever.
Hey bro This Your concrete is so soft .cement in your country is not good that's why many building in your country is collapse .😄🤣😁
No. Our building codes are top notch. Whatever third world country you live in most likely doesn't have the skilled workers or engineers it takes to build buildings. You probably still build your houses is out of mud. 🤣
@@AK-47ISTHEWAY your comments is totally wrong
Great Job on the demonstration
Please watch Bosh professional safe drilling techniques here on UA-cam… To see how you are using the side handle completely wrongly ! If the bit jams, or hits substantial friction suddenly , it will pull out of your fingers of your hand holding the handle , and badly twist your left hand.
Anyone know if that style of dewalt hammer drill with a paddle mixer (DW511 in particular) would be sufficient for mixing up 5 gallon buckets of concrete with minimal aggregate? (and switched to normal drill mode)

No you are
Thanks so much - night and day
I wanna know what cut that aggregate concrete as well!
Most likely a diamond tipped concrete saw of some sort
The DeWalt you kept letting off the trigger
This is exactly what I needed, just bought a house made of mostly concrete!
To keep the drill bit from wandering at the start, put down a layer or two of duct tape.
hi. i really appreciate this video. more importantly what did you use to cut out that slab of concrete? we are looking to cut a similar opening but 18" thick.
He most likely used a diamond tipped concrete saw of some sort
rotary hammer all the way
Same experience. I bought a large corded Ryobi hammer drill and it sucked. Borrowed my electrician friends compact cordless rotary hammer and it drilled holes in concrete all day. The other couldn't do one

Hi great set up, could explain how you wired it and what you did? I have a 55 Olds in wanting to convert. Thanks
Sounds good! I had one in high school that I put together from two wrecks. 3 on the tree - Nice car! Rare with the stick shift
This is my second time coming to this video after a year, it was flawless last time with a hammer drill. This time I'm stuck with 3 holes against an aggregate using the same hammer drill and getting concerned with my hands getting tremors. Time to invest on a rotary hammer 💰
Found this video while looking for a hammer drill. Finished the video, and ordered a Rotary Hammer Drill instead 😄I didn't even know this tool existed until about 5 minutes ago. Thanks mate! saved me buying the wrong thing.
didn’t know 😆
it was great video thank you!
Great vid.. make more vids showing the foot pedal
"40 inches by 3 feet" What an absolutely ridiculous measurement. Two separate notations (feet and inches) makes it needlessly complicated when the distances are so similar in a proper mathematical measurement. 1010 by 910 and you instantly know there is a 100 mil difference and only 1 notation. Imperial won't last the century and the world will be better off without it.
what if you tied a hammer to a rope and swung it really hard
2:35 vs 4:20
Wow it's so quiet.
Wow, wish I saw this yesterday before drilling those holes in my brick - my hammer drill took FOREVER on just a few holes. Thanks for sharing!
Did you have your bit all the way against the back of the chuck? If not the hammer won't tap the bit
You used hammer bit? Designed for hammering cant use regular bits meant for drilling wood and metals.
Please tell what is difference between hammer drill vs Hilty drill
Hilti is just the brand name of a certain tool manufacturer. Hilti makes drills, hammer drills and rotary hammers. The same with Makita and DeWalt. They all make drills, hammer drills and rotary hammers. They are just name brands.
